Skiing in Szczyrk

 

Szczyrk is situated in the mountain range of Beskid Śląski, 460-600 m above sea level, in the deep valley of the river Żylica. Is surrounded from the north by the mountain group of Klimczok (1119 m above sea level) and from the south by Skrzyczne (1257 m above sea level) - the highest mountain in the Polish part of Beskid Śląski.

Szczyrk is popular and well-known for its excellent climatic conditions both in summer and winter. Sheltered from the winds and exposed to the sun it offers excellent snow conditions. It is the starting point of numerous nature trails and cycling routes. It has the largest number of ski lifts and ski runs in Poland: 27 ski lifts (2 chair lifts, 25 surface lifts) that offers skiers an impressive 702 metres (2304 feet) of vertical descent. Szczyrk has 27 pistes covering 40 km. For those who prefer cross-country skiing there are six routes with a combined distance of just under 40km.

In order to ensure the best snow conditions in large parts of the slopes are snowed by a system of artificial snow. Gateways support contactless ski pass system.

There are two Airports (Kraków and Katowice) within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Szczyrk are perfectly feasible.
